The connection between technology and maths has an impact on the students performance and understanding. Technology that is well-thought out can be utilized to engage students, provide individualized experiences, and aid students with diverse learning styles.

Software and hardware for maths such as graphing calculators, spreadsheets and dynamic geometry environments allow students to engage with math in an appealing, interactive and engaging manner. It also lets them complete calculations quickly and effortlessly that would be challenging or time-consuming if they used traditional pencil and paper methods. The software and hardware allow students to gain a greater understanding of concepts through visualizing the processes involved. Students who make use of ICT to study math frequently are more positive about math and display stronger knowledge of mathematics than those who don’t. When students utilize ICT to help them understand complex concepts in other subjects, they tend to gain a better understanding of those subjects and the ability to apply their knowledge to real world problems.
